I'm fundraising for...

This June, I am lacing up my joggers to take on the Healthy Harold Hundred. I’ve committed to covering at least 100km in 30 days...that's 3.3ks a day!

Bullying and violence is a growing issue for kids – in the playground and online. 1 in 4 Australian children are bullied every few weeks, and 1 in 5 kids experience cyberbullying. Schoolyard bullies are 4 times more likely to abuse their partners later in life.

Please sponsor me today to support my hundred and help Life Education (and of course Healthy Harold!) deliver more respectful relationships programs to kids across Queensland.

Every dollar donated and every kilometre covered will get us one step closer to breaking the cycle of bullying and violence.

My Story ❤️‍🩹

Sunday 29th May
Please support myself and my son Daniel who is 5 years old as we both embark on spreading awareness and prevention strategies within schools and workplaces dealing with bullying.
Recently Daniel came to me and said “Mummy I hate my school I don’t want to go can I please go back to old school (referring to daycare)”, I asked Daniel why and this opened a dialogue with him “Mummy (said children) are mean to me and are always hurting me, they hit me and spit at me and they make cry all the time” I asked Daniel if he had told his teachers and he said “what if they don’t believe me, I just want to go to my old school Mummy”. I explained to Daniel that if they don’t believe you you stand there until they do, your voice is powerful and tell the teachers exactly what happened. This is where our journey begins, I emailed Daniel’s teacher and explained my son’s concerns to her, she emailed back saying my email has been passed on to the principal and support staff, that same day I had a meeting with the principal and we worked on an action for Daniel and a support action plan for the children doing the bullying as they need help just as much as my son. We are working closely together and the situation is being monitored and managed by the staff and myself and resources have been provided for all families involved. I’m able to advocate for my son however I wasn’t able to advocate for myself in my workplace and instead of speaking up I walked away. In order for change to occur we need to speak up. Our voice is powerful. As I am more equipped with resources and confidence to speak up we need to make positive changes and be free to communicate freely regarding bullying. Thank you for taking the time to read our story ❤️
If you are able to donate please do a small amount goes along way!
